Stanley Marks, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 25th surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his wife Roberta (who passed away in April), parents, Benjamin and Mary and brothers William and Burton. Stanley is survived by sons, Steven (Jeannine), Dr. Neal (Pamela); grandchildren, Jordan, Dr. Samantha, Wyatt, Mackenna and Brady; sister-in-law, Rita Marks, nephews Craig (Ellen) and Wayne (Allison) and best friends, Evelyn and Richard Eshelman.
Stan was born and raised in Akron and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from the University of Akron and soon started a real estate and investment career spanning decades while raising a family with his first wife Judith. He was especially proud of buying a large tract of land in Tonopah, AZ prior to Bill Gates and his 25,000-acre tract which was dubbed the “City of the Future”.
Stan and Roberta shared a passion for travel and especially enjoyed the trips they shared with their children and grandchildren. He spent winters in Arizona over the last 30 years gathering many new friends and rejuvenating his tennis passion. He was an accomplished violinist and played in the Doctor’s Orchestra where he first met Roberta. He could build a violin from scratch and would make repairs for people all over the US.
He was a benefactor to many Akron area organizations such as The Akron Marathon, Stewart's Caring Place, Good Neighbors, Summa Hospital, Temple Israel, Akron Children's Hospital, and many others.
The family would like to thank the exemplary care given by the team at Summa Hospice and Palliative Care.
