The family is enormously grateful to her devoted caregivers Davida Bishop, Trezette Hankton, Dynasty Tripp and others. Through thick and thin, they were by her side and afforded her companionship and dignified loving care.
Maxine loved her family before all else. She also loved children, especially the littlest ones. She was a volunteer at Akron Children’s Hospital well into her 90s and also volunteered at Akron General Hospital for many years. A lifelong member of Temple Israel she was a member of their Sisterhood and Daughters of Israel. Maxine played the piano and accompanied her husband who was a gifted trumpet player. She enjoyed playing Mozart, Chopin and Mendelssohn piano concertos. Her love of music and all kinds of dancing took her to performances at the Cleveland Symphony and beyond.
She could be seen around Akron wearing her signature saddle shoes, playing the links at Rosemont Country Club and games of canasta and bridge. She and Sam loved to dance anywhere the music played.
Arrangements for her funeral are made with Gordon Memorial Home. A graveside service will be conducted on September 16 at 11 AM at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will have calling hours from 1-3 PM at Maxine’s home at 1008 Bunker Drive Apt 105 Akron Ohio.

Maxine lived a long full life and her memory is a blessing for all who knew her.
