Obituary

AKRON

Marti E. Newman, 69, passed away October 5, 2021. She was born July 5, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ira and Bernice Burman.

Marti was proud to be the first female manager at Roadway. She enjoyed mitzvah clowning, was proud to be a president of Temple Israel Sisterhood and was a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years at Temple Israel and Beth el Congregation.
Her passion was singing, as a member of Temple Israel Choir, insisting she had an opera quality voice. Marti and Les enjoyed showing Standard Schnauzers for 10 years.

Preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Leslie in 2010 and brother Wayne K. Burman, she is survived by daughter Michelle Newman; son Howard Newman; her beloved dogs Petey and Willie; close family friend Bob Godshall, her cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rabbi Josh Brown will conduct graveside service Friday at 12 Noon at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market Street in Akron. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Greater Akron or Temple Israel. The family will be observing Shiva at Marti's residence immediately following services on Friday.
