Judith Epstein Obituary
Judith Joy Epstein, 93, passed away May 31, 2023. Daughter of Lillian and Samuel Clayman, Joy was born in Toronto, Canada, where she graduated from the University of Toronto. In 1950, she married Bart Epstein and in 1962, they moved to Akron, the city she would call home for almost 60 years.
Joy valued her family time the most, whether it was hosting family and friends for holidays or attending every life event for her children and grandchildren - Joy was always there to show support and be everyone's biggest fan. Joy loved exploring the world with her family, always planning wonderful trips with Bart, her children and grandchildren. Family and friends were her top priority, as well as giving back to her community. Joy was very active in the Akron Jewish community, dedicating her time to volunteering, delivering Meals on Wheels and being an active member at Beth El Congregation.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bart Epstein, brother, Bernie Clayman, and Daughter-in law, Jean Epstein. Mother of Avrom (Marcia) Epstein of Columbus, Mark Epstein of Columbus, and Elaine (Allen) Cohen of Cincinnati. Proud grandma of Daniel, Benjamin (Eva), Leah (Abe) Korman, Sarah, Lauren, Jack and Sallie; and great grandma of Molly.
Rabbi Jeremy Lipton will conduct the funeral service Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2 pm at Beth El Congregation, 750 White Pond Dr. in Akron. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Following interment, the family will receive visitors at Beth El Congregation until 5:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beth El Congregation or a charity of your choice.
