Eileen Schneir Obituary

Eileen Welsh Schneir
Eileen Schneir passed away July 2 in hospice care in New Albany, Ohio.
Eileen was born in Patterson, New Jersey in 1932 to the late David Welsh and Sadie Gordon Welsh. She attended Eastside High School in New Jersey before taking the journey west to attend Ohio State University where she graduated with a degree in Social Work. During her junior year at OSU, she went on a blind date with Edward Schneir and returned to her rooming house and told her roommates, she had just met the man she would marry. She and Edward were married in September 1953 while she worked for the Ohio State welfare board and supported Edward in his last year in medical school. Finally settling down in Akron after internship and residency, Eileen became a true Akronite. A lifelong member of Beth El synagogue, Shaw Jewish Center, and Hadassah.
Eileen embraced life as a woman, a wife, a mother, and a friend. She and Edward were blessed with a large circle of friends and family in Ohio. An avid tennis player and traveler, their later years were filled with time in Florida, exploring the world and being active and involved grandparents.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband Edward of 54 years and leaves behind their three children and their spouses: Steven and Dawn, Susan and Alex, and Paul and Sue. She had seven grandchildren and their partners, Jordan and Lauren, Katie and Evan, Lauren and Corey, Victor and Laura, Fanny and Evan, Megan and Nick, Drew and Caroline. She also leaves behind brother and sister-in-law Alan and June and sister-in-law Maxine.
