Arlene Riva Rossen

On Friday, January 13, 2023, Arlene Rossen, a life-long resident of Akron, Ohio passed away at the age of 83. Arlene was the daughter of Lillian and Milton Cohen. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1956 and the Ohio State University in 1960. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Akron. Arlene was life-long member of Beth El Congregation of Akron.

Arlene had a long career including at the University of Akron, the Akron Arthritis Foundation, and the Akron Art Museum and the Akron Bar Association.

Arlene loved music, travel and family. She was a devoted wife to Dick of 59 years. They enjoyed travel together around the world, including to numerous hot air balloon rallies, where they made many close friends. Arlene’s favorite moments where when her family was all together.

Arlene was a dedicated mother and grandmother, survived by her children, Debra Rosenthal (Marty) Daniel Rossen (Lauren), Michael Rossen (Andrea) and Jerome Rossen (Sandi); grandchildren, Amanda Rosenthal, Rachel Rossen, Jane Rosenthal (fiancé Kris Ulrich), Alexandra Rossen, Mallory Rossen, Jonathan Rossen, Drew Rossen, Ben Rossen and Natalia Rossen.

The funeral will take place on Monday, January 16 at 11 am at Beth El Congregation in Akron.  Shiva will be at Beth El on Monday until 6pm and Tuesday, from 2pm – 6pm.
